> The Typophonics computer program takes input from a MIDI keyboard or instrument to generate images 'real-time'.
Any font installed on the computer can be used as form-language. As music programs use sound-banks to make music, Typophonics uses typefaces as image-banks.
A number of parameters such as color, position or font-size can be modified 'live' and linked to the pitch or velocity from the MIDI input.
Each time a MIDI note comes in, a new glyph and a new frame from the video background are drawn to the screen.
The current version of the program suports input from one MIDI chanel, but future developments will include multiple chanels so that each instrument of a band or sequencer will generate its own image.
Typophonics is programmed using Max/msp and Jitter.
